Samford junior Karisa Nelson ran the fastest time by an American this year in the women's 1,500 meters and the third-fastest time in the world with her 4:10.91 to place second behind nine-time Norwegian champion Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal (4:10.74) in the top section of the Payton Jordan Invitational.
